Ubuntu (7.10) Gutsy Gibbon, VirtualBox 1.6.4: compile error “[pass_bldprogs_before] Error 2″
August 10th, 2008 under Ubuntu, tech supportRecently when trying to compile VirtualBox-1.6.4 OSE I ran into an error runing the kmk bit. It was saying:
kmk[2]: *** No rule to make target `pass_bldprogs'. Stop. kmk[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/VirtualBox-1.6.4/src/apps' kmk[1]: *** [pass_bldprogs_before] Error 2 kmk[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/VirtualBox-1.6.4/src' kmk: *** [pass_bldprogs_before] Error 2
So after some searching I found this link which told me that the problem was missing from the src/apps and src/apps/tunctl folders. So I placed the files from that post into the correct folders. Ran kmk, and then ran into another error after a bit.
kmk[2]: *** [pass_binaries_before] Error 2 kmk[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/VirtualBox-1.6.4/src/VBox' kmk[1]: *** [pass_binaries_before] Error 2 kmk[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/VirtualBox-1.6.4/src' kmk: *** [pass_binaries_before] Error 2
So back to searching my internets.
Internets no help.
I decided just to install it with the deb Sun has on their site. Have it running, but can’t get tinyXP to install on a new VIM. Anybody?

There should be information on the error a few lines up…
Yeah i gave up. The Sun free vBox is doing what i need for now. Except I’m not able to install tinyXP, I think it’s my CD thats bad.
